Iranian restrictions on Hormuz transit
Iran declared a renewed closure of Hormuz on 11 July and has since required Iranian permission for passage, backed by a blacklist of non-compliant vessels (23 August), an announced restricted zone (6 September) and warning shots at vessels that state television cited to explain sounds near Qeshm on 28 September. Transit has not stopped: JMIC recorded reduced but continuing traffic on 27 September and oil flows have resumed, while US officials dispute Iran's claim of full control. ISW assessed on 30 September that Iran seeks economic relief before easing the restrictions.
