Pause in strikes on Kyiv and Moscow
Around the visit of US envoys to Moscow and Kyiv, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin had ordered that no strikes be carried out against Kyiv for 72 hours from midnight on 6 September, and Zelenskyy said Ukraine was ready to observe a matching pause on strikes against capitals through Monday 7 September. The two stated windows differed, the Kremlin's running to midnight on 9 September, and strikes continued elsewhere in Ukraine and inside Russia throughout. The pause ended when Russian missiles and drones hit Kyiv from about 03:30 on 8 September.
