Wladimir van Wilgenburg quoted Axios as reporting that the White House and Qatari mediators were still waiting for Iran’s response to a U.S. counterproposal to end the war. A U.S. official said it remained in internal deliberations in Tehran; a regional source said mediators had told Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in recent days not to wait until after the U.S. midterms. The post gives no date for the counterproposal or the meetings.
