A Russian drone struck near the Kyiv–Odesa highway in the settlement of Chabany, Fastiv district, Kyiv Oblast, close to a shopping centre, on the morning of 20 October 2026, setting cars on fire, Kyiv Oblast governor Tymur Tkachenko and the regional prosecutor's office said. Prosecutors said that, preliminarily, three people were killed and four injured, and that the figures were being clarified; traffic on the section was restricted. Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko separately reported that a drone fell near a petrol station in Kyiv's Holosiivskyi district on the border with Kyiv Oblast, killing one person and injuring six, five of whom were hospitalised, and later updated the count to seven injured, five of them hospitalised; the sources do not say whether this is the same strike, and the two sets of figures are not combined. No Russian Defence Ministry statement on the incident was read.
