Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had directed the Mossad, military intelligence (Aman) and the Israel Defense Forces to work towards bringing down Iran's regime, JFeed reported on 19 October 2026, citing Arutz Sheva's account of a briefing with diplomatic correspondents on Sunday. 'This regime will have to fall, and I am committed to bringing it down,' Netanyahu was quoted as saying; he said the plan was 'the directive I gave to all the security agencies' and that if the regime obtains nuclear weapons it will destroy Israel. He said Israel prefers to act with US agreement but that its objectives are not conditional on it. Chinese state media described the remarks as made in a Channel 14 interview on the evening of 19 October; the two accounts differ on the venue and day.
