Ukraine's General Staff said its forces struck the Lukoil-owned NORSI oil refinery in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, overnight into Aug. 26, causing a fire at Russia's fourth-largest refinery.

Ukraine's General Staff said the refinery was hit overnight into Wednesday Aug. 26, causing a fire on the premises, with the extent of damage still being assessed. Residents of Kstovo reported an air-raid alert and drones overhead before monitoring channels posted footage of flames engulfing the plant. Russian authorities had not commented on the strike. Rosaviatsiya imposed temporary flight restrictions at Nizhny Novgorod airport during the overnight wave, in which Russia's Defense Ministry claimed 426 Ukrainian drones downed, and President Zelensky said Ukraine struck 16 targets inside Russia over the past day. The drone maker Fire Point separately claimed its FP-1 munitions were used against both the refinery and the Wildberries hub in Tambov. NORSI (Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez) processes roughly 15-17 million tonnes of crude annually, is Russia's fourth-largest refinery and second-largest gasoline producer, lies about 800 km from the Ukrainian border, and was previously struck on April 5, May 20, June 24 and July 2, 2026.
