UN World Food Programme analysis cited by Al Jazeera said about 1.4 million people — roughly two-thirds of Gaza’s population — still face crisis or worse acute food insecurity, as UK diplomats demanded Israel end aid restrictions.

Coverage of the 24 July 2026 Gaza strike day also carried WFP emergency director Ross Smith’s assessment that the humanitarian situation remains critical and desperate, with 1.4 million people at crisis-or-worse food insecurity (down slightly from 1.6 million late 2025). The UK Foreign Office separately said Gaza faces crisis-level food insecurity and that Israeli aid restrictions drive disease and water scarcity. This package is the humanitarian-assessment speech act, not a new kinetic strike.
