On 9 October 2026 Rivne Oblast governor Oleksandr Koval said five people were injured in a Russian attack on the region, including a child in serious condition, and that a family's house was badly damaged (Suspilne). Rokytne community head Hryhorii Tarhonskyi later said doctors fought nearly a day for 13-year-old Maksym, who died of those wounds; his funeral was set for 11 October in the village of Buda (Ukrinform; EuroMaidan Press). Tarhonskyi also said eight people sought medical help after a Shahed attack, including 12-year-old Khrystyna taken to Rivne city. The governor's earlier '10-year-old' wording is superseded here by the named 13-year-old fatality from the community head; ages are not combined as a single child.
