Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Yahya Saree said on the evening of 12 October 2026 that Houthi forces struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with a ballistic missile and that the hit was precise, and that a separate drone operation struck Khamis Mushait air base with a direct hit. He again warned airlines that Saudi airports are unsafe except Mecca and Medina. OSINT and wire relays reported Civil Defense alerts and explosions in Riyadh the same evening; the Saudi-led coalition's earlier Monday morning claim of intercepting a ballistic missile toward Khamis Mushait (evt_bf37b089) and the 11 October KKIA Terminal 4 strike (evt_2fc86506) are separate. The Saudi-led coalition said the Houthi ballistic missile fired towards Riyadh that evening was intercepted (Anadolu, Al Arabiya, Arab News), contradicting the claimed hit. Later that evening Saudi Civil Defense briefly issued a potential-danger warning in Khamis Mushait Governorate and lifted it about 10 minutes later, without saying what the danger was (Anadolu). Coalition spokesman Turki Al-Maliki said in a statement on X that the Houthis fired one ballistic missile at Riyadh and two towards Khamis Mushait, and Riyadh residents reported several powerful explosions moments after a phone alert warned of an aerial threat, Al Jazeera reported; as reported, the statement does not say whether the Khamis Mushait figure includes the missile reported intercepted early on Monday (evt_bf37b089). No independent confirmation of impact or casualties for the Houthi claim was established in this pass.
