A fire broke out at the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery in Ufa after a drone attack overnight into 1 August; Bashkortostan officials said drones were intercepted and debris caused industrial smoke, with no casualties. Kyiv had not claimed the strike at publication.

The Kyiv Independent reported 1 August 2026 that geolocated ASTRA footage showed black smoke columns at Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim (>1,300 km from the front). Governor Radiy Khabirov confirmed a drone attack on Ufa but said it was repelled and that debris caused the smoke. Ukraine’s General Staff listed other overnight deep-strike targets (Crimea bridges, naval USV site, etc.) without naming Ufa. Verification is probable: multi-source local evidence of fire/drone activity, no official Kyiv claim yet.

Verification: Probable

Evidence: Drones reportedly spark fires at major Russian oil refinery in Ufa more than 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine's border, Overnight strikes hit occupied territories as military sites burn in Crimea and oil refinery in Ufa

Local officials + independent Russian footage confirm fire/drone activity; Ukrainian claim not public at retrieval; BDA limited to smoke/fire reports.
