In a post published on 4 October 2026 at about 16:26 UTC, @wartranslated wrote that Ukraine is creating a satellite system similar to Starlink, called Similar, citing Zelensky. The post gives no detail on the programme: no launch date, no satellite count, no operator, no funding, no capability, and no media is attached to the post. The statement is a single attributed line about an intention to build a system, not an operational capability, and no Ukrainian technical or official detail beyond the attributed remark was read here.

Why it matters

It records a named Ukrainian programme to build an alternative satellite communications capability, which is material to how Ukraine's wartime communications dependence is described.
