The Israel Defense Forces announced on 8 October 2026 that it struck in the Khan Younis area of the Gaza Strip on Monday, 5 October, and eliminated Ibrahim Alam, described as a commander in Hamas's military wing. It said Alam infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 attacks and took part in the murder of Israeli civilians and in the abduction of Sergeant Shaked Dahan's body. In a separate strike on Tuesday, 6 October, the IDF said it eliminated Mu'tasem Muhammad Suleiman Salah, also described as a member of Hamas's military wing. The announcement presents both men as attacking Israeli civilians and troops in systematic violation of the ceasefire, and says the strikes used precise munitions and aerial surveillance. The identifications are the IDF's own claims; no independent confirmation was read and no casualty report from the strikes was read.
