Authorities were investigating; no public attribution or casualty report at packaging.

UKMTO’s official product and X channel (3 August 2026, 2200 UTC incident time) reported a cargo-vessel distress/broadcast claiming an unknown-projectile hit NE of Al Khasab on the Musandam/Hormuz approaches. Anadolu Agency and OSINT aggregators amplified the same UKMTO warning within minutes. Distinct from the 31 July–1 August dual-tanker package and from the 2 August proximity-explosion advisory at a similar position.
