Hours after US Central Command disabled or destroyed three IRGC-linked crude carriers, the Revolutionary Guard’s naval force said it had targeted three oil tankers on what it called an unauthorised route through the Strait of Hormuz and three vessels affiliated with the United States elsewhere in the region. No hull was named, CENTCOM did not confirm any hit, and no operator has reported damage.

The IRGC statement, carried by Iranian media on Saturday evening, said the tankers were struck for crossing routes Tehran had not authorised and told other crews not to “be deceived by the American terrorist army” and to avoid “any suspicious movement to cross unauthorised waterways, otherwise you will be targeted”. A spokesman for Iran’s joint military command said strikes on US warships would be harsher if Washington kept interfering with Iranian shipping. Euronews and The Tribune carried the claim next to CENTCOM’s account of M/T Downy off Kharg Island, M/T Stark 1 near Jask and M/T Kylo in the Gulf of Oman. Six days on, no owner, no flag state and no UKMTO advisory has named a vessel damaged in this claimed round.

Why it matters

It is the first time Tehran has answered a strike on its own tankers by claiming commercial hulls in return, and it puts a permission — whose route Iran authorises — between a merchant captain and a safe passage.

Revolutionary Guard claim only. No vessel is named, no operator or UKMTO report of damage followed, and CENTCOM did not confirm the hits. The count of six is the Guard’s own.
