The Africa Corps account reported at 06:02 UTC on 8 October 2026 that Malian army soldiers and Africa Corps personnel of the Russian armed forces had carried out clearing operations in the southern part of Kidal on 7 October 2026, and that local residents reported the fighters had left the city in a hurry. A separate post in French on 8 October from a news account repeated the same account of the operation and the residents' report. An account posted on 9 October described the same clearing operation of 7 October in southern Kidal, saying that soldiers of the Malian army and the Africa Corps conducted it and that local residents reported the fighters had fled the city in haste; it adds no separate date, unit or casualty detail.
