Sudan Tribune reports that on Sunday 4 October 2026 the UN World Food Programme said an airstrike hit two of its contracted food trucks travelling from Dalanj to Kadugli in South Kordofan state, killing one driver. The trucks carried clear markings indicating humanitarian vehicles. The programme called it the ninth such attack on its operations this year, the previous bombing having struck two trucks near Dalanj on 30 August and destroyed 50 tonnes of food aid. Additional details, including the size of the damage to the food shipment, were still being gathered, and the programme did not attribute the attack. The WFP said relief convoys face continued attacks, with 33.7 million people, including 17.3 million children, needing humanitarian assistance this year, and warned that 825,000 children were suffering severe acute malnutrition. It called for a prompt and impartial investigation and said the attack came a day after one of its trucks hit an explosive device near Dalanj after delivering food aid.
