US Central Command said it had redirected 94 commercial vessels accused of violating the blockade of Iranian ports, with three ships disabled and two boarded. The count is ten higher than the 84 CENTCOM published on 1 September.
CBS carried the running tally on Monday: 94 vessels redirected, three disabled, two boarded since the blockade of Iran’s ports began. CENTCOM does not name the ships, their flags or their cargoes, and no independent register of the redirected traffic exists. The disabled and boarded counts have not moved since 30 August, when the tally stood at 83 redirected with the same three and two.
Why it matters
The tally is the only continuous public measure of the blockade, and its shape matters: redirections keep climbing while boardings do not, which is a campaign of turning ships away rather than of taking them.
