Standard

Overnight 21–22 Sep 2026, Ukrainian wires and OSINT first reported explosions over Samara Oblast and a large fire at the Kuibyshev (Kuybyshev) oil refinery — one of the region's largest Rosneft plants. On 22 Sep, Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed the Defence Forces struck the Kuibyshev NPZ with fire on the premises (Suspilne ~09:46Z; UNN/UP restatement). Militarnyi (~09:11Z) published Exilenova+ fire footage and assessed the AVT-5 primary distillation unit as likely damaged — keep as BDA hedge; exact AVT pad unpublished. Distinct from Togliattikauchuk chemical-plant claim and from Bashneft-UNPZ Ufa (separate CREATE). Plant area±5km; do not invent unit geometry. No native video.twimg.com package embedded.

Why it matters

Official GSUA confirmation upgrades the Kuibyshev NPZ overnight fire from unverified OSINT claim to probable deep-strike energy hit in Samara.
