British Prime Minister Andy Burnham told the House of Commons on 12 October 2026 that the 27 September incident at RAF Fairford was highly likely coordinated in Iran and almost certainly directed by the IRGC, and said further sanctions would follow. Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said the UK had summoned Iran's ambassador and designated two Iranian nationals, Ruhollah Bazghandi, described as head of IRGC counterespionage operations, and Shahram Ali Reza Tamarzadeh Jakki, described as a facilitator of the Zindashti criminal network, with asset freezes, travel bans and director disqualification. Foreign ministers of 29 countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, issued a joint statement recognising the UK attribution. Iran has denied involvement, the BBC reported. Seven men arrested over the incident have been bailed and no one has been charged.
