A Russian drone struck a warehouse in the village of Myla, in Kyiv’s Bucha district, on the evening of 28 August, detonating stored ammunition and killing 37 people. Fires spread through nearby homes and a care facility; dozens were injured and hundreds evacuated.

Associated Press and The Guardian reported the Friday-evening strike on a warehouse in Myla that Ukrainian officials said was storing shells, mines, other ammunition and drones. Secondary detonations lasted for hours, damaged about 50 residential buildings and closed a stretch of the M-06 Kyiv–Chop highway. Kyiv regional governor Tymur Tkachenko put the toll at 37 killed and 42 injured, including four children; among the dead was Dmytrivka community head Taras Didych. Zelenskyy said the first impact hit a Defence Forces storage site that “definitely shouldn’t have been there” and opened a negligence investigation. Russia’s Defence Ministry said it had hit a warehouse storing components and launch boosters for long-range drones. Open-source accounts identified the munition as a Geran-4 loitering munition; the launch origin was not reported. The strike was the deadliest attack inside Ukraine in 2026 at packaging.
