On Sunday 4 October 2026 Israeli forces fired on towns across southern Lebanon, L’Orient Today’s correspondent and Qatar News Agency reported. The correspondent counted at least 35 artillery shells on the coastal village of Mansouri overnight, then morning artillery on the outskirts of Braasheet, Dohat Kfar Rummane and the ground between Arnoun and Kfar Tibnit, tank shells toward Houla, and further artillery on Kfar Tibnit, Mayfadoun and Wadi Slouki. The same account said an Apache helicopter fired on the outskirts of Zawtar Sharqieh, that Al-Jadeed and Nabatieh News crews were shelled near Mayfadoun with no injuries, and that Mansouri was later hit with phosphorus shells and tank fire while houses were demolished in Majdal Zoun. Qatar News Agency, citing field sources, said warplanes struck Mansouri, Kfar Tibnit and Al-Qantara al-Mansouri, that artillery concentrated on the outskirts of Mayfadoun, and that forces set off explosions in Wadi Zebqin. The two accounts agree the south was under fire. They do not agree which weapon hit which town.
Why it matters
Towns off the coastal buffer line, including Mayfadoun, where residents remain and journalists were working, came under fire on a day when no new Lebanon incident had been published.
Verification: Probable
Evidence: 2 Israeli soldiers injured in ‘operational accident,’ as army continues attacks in the South, Israeli Attacks Continue on Southern Lebanon
L’Orient Today attributes the artillery, the Apache, the phosphorus shells and the journalist incident to its correspondent, and the journalist incident also to Al-Jadeed. Qatar News Agency attributes warplanes on three towns and explosions in Wadi Zebqin to field sources. Neither report gives a casualty figure or an Israeli statement on these Sunday strikes.
