Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province issued early-warning alerts on the evening of 13 October 2026 and air-defence engagements were reported over Khobar and Dhahran. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile heading towards Dhahran and that debris from the intercepted missile fell on a residential area, according to posts relaying the coalition statement. Reuters, citing six sources, reported loud explosions near Saudi Aramco's headquarters in Dhahran, a fire at the building and an evacuation order; a source said it was unclear whether the headquarters was hit directly or by falling debris. A company source later told Reuters that a ballistic missile hit the Aramco headquarters complex, that an office tower in the complex was struck and that its top three floors were damaged; the source and two other people with knowledge of the matter said the building was on fire. Reuters noted that the complex hosts a major Aramco operations centre overseeing onshore and offshore rigs, pipelines, refineries and export terminals. The Houthis had earlier named Aramco's headquarters among the sites they would target (evt_fddc1f59). Later that night Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Energy said an administrative building belonging to Saudi Aramco in Dhahran had been targeted, causing a limited fire and no injuries, according to posts quoting the ministry statement; Aramco also confirmed that one of its administrative buildings in Dhahran was targeted.
