Serhii Shmatko (27) were killed when a Russian drone struck their investigative team in the Bohdanivka community (Pavlohrad district, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast) while they were documenting the aftermath of an earlier strike; Hryhorenko died at the scene and Shmatko later died of wounds in hospital, with a third officer hospitalized in serious condition (OBOZ.UA; 24tv citing National Police). Dnipropetrovsk Regional Governor Oleksandr Hanzha, reporting the overnight wave into 4 September 2026, said Russian forces attacked two districts more than ten times with drones and artillery, that Bohdanivka saw a fire and a damaged car with two police killed and another seriously injured, and that Nikopol, Pokrovske and Marhanets were also hit with damage to a business and a supermarket (Ukrinform; Mezha).
