The IMO lists the Liberia-flagged bulk carrier Riyan Star (IMO 9156761) as struck on 15 August 2026 in the Strait of Hormuz with one seafarer fatality, hit on the starboard side below the gangway. USNI News attributes the attack to Iran. It is the first of two fatal attacks on commercial shipping in the strait that week.
