The Houthi movement announced on 5 October 2026 that it was declaring Saudi airspace unsafe, warning airlines to leave, and saying the airspace would become a theatre of operations — first reported by OSINT accounts Hormuz Letter and Iran Observer. On 11 October 2026, Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree renewed that warning in an official Arabic post, telling airlines, experts, staff and travellers not to use Saudi airports and airspace because they are exposed to targeting and are an operational theater for Yemeni forces, with the exception of the airports in Mecca and Medina; Al Mayadeen English relayed the same renewal. No Saudi official response addressing the 11 October renewal was recovered in this pass.

Evidence: BREAKING: Yemen's Houthis announce an air blockade of Saudi Arabia, Yahya Saree renews warning: Saudi airspace an operational theater except Mecca and Medina airports, BREAKING: Yemen's Houthis have announced a Total Air Blockade of Saudi Arabia, Yemeni Armed Forces renew warning against using Saudi airports and airspace (except Mecca/Medina)

Initial 5 Oct declaration via OSINT relays; 11 Oct renewal is a primary @Yah_Saree official statement (Arabic) with Al Mayadeen English relay. Still a Houthi claim; no Saudi confirmation of effect on air traffic.
