On 15 September 2026 Ziad Mohammed Jaber, 54, was killed in the Umm al-Sharayet neighbourhood of Al-Bireh near Ramallah. Competing accounts: an Israeli military spokesperson, via The Times of Israel, said he was killed after attempting to seize a soldier’s weapon during operational activity; Palestinian Ministry of Health reporting via WAFA said Israeli forces shot him during a dawn raid on the neighbourhood, with local relays describing abdomen/thigh gunshot wounds before he died in hospital. Middle East Eye and Quds News Network amplified the Palestinian raid framing. Brother Ramadan Muhammad Jaber, in a QudsNen video interview, said Israeli forces blew open the family home door before dawn without warning, asked immediately about Ziad, and that he heard Ziad screaming about a minute later; Ramadan and his daughter were confined and tied while forces searched and detained his son Amer. Retain both narratives as claims; do not adjudicate the sequence.
