The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said on 27 September it had seized a second American autonomous underwater vehicle in the Strait of Hormuz, identifying it as a Mk 18 Mod 2 Kingfish. CENTCOM spokesman Captain Tim Hawkins rejected the claim as "clearly desperate," saying the United States retains positive control of all its operational drone assets.
