On the night of 8 October 2026 the Ukrainian Defence Forces struck the Sasta machine-tool plant and a Yandex data centre located on the plant's premises in Sasovo, in the Ryazan region of Russia. The monitoring group Exilenova+ reported the strike, and footage it released shows a large fire at the industrial site. Reports indicated major disruption to Yandex Cloud services, including power supply problems that affected access to computing resources, networks, data storage, databases and Kubernetes. The Yandex DC Sasovo data centre has a stated power capacity of up to 12 MW and is designed to hold tens of thousands of servers. PJSC Sasta is described by the OSINT group Varta as one of Russia's largest operating machine-tool manufacturers, employing about 627 people and running a full production cycle, and is involved in Russian defence supply chains.
