The Saudi-led coalition spokesman, Major-General Turki al-Maliki, said on 14 October 2026 that air defences intercepted and destroyed a Houthi ballistic missile launched towards Riyadh, Al Jazeera reported. The Saudi Civil Defence had issued two alerts through its national early-warning platform, one for the capital and one for Al-Kharj governorate, later saying the danger had passed. The Civil Defense later said falling shrapnel from the interception injured one Arab resident and caused limited damage to a home and a vehicle, according to posts relaying its statement. The same day the Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed strikes with ballistic and cruise missiles and drones on Aramco in Dhahran, an Aramco refinery in Riyadh and King Khalid International Airport; no Saudi source confirmed hits on the refinery or the airport.
