Saudi Arabia said drone strikes from Iraq hit the East-West oil pipeline in the Riyadh and Madinah regions, causing injuries and damage, and that it had shut the line (11 September 2026). The foreign ministry said Riyadh would not respond at this stage so Iraqi authorities could stop further attacks, while reserving the right to protect its facilities. On 15 September, multiple X monitors cited Reuters that oil loadings had been suspended at Yanbu — Saudi Arabia’s main Red Sea export port fed by the line — and that some late-September crude cargoes for European refiners had been cancelled while Yanbu stocks for export were running down. Later 15 September, Faytuks cited U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright saying he expects the pipeline running again very soon; hormuzletter said Aramco had cancelled all September European crude allocations. Anadolu Agency cited Wright telling CNBC the interruption would be brief — “measured in days” — with some Saudi crude rerouted via Hormuz under U.S. military support. On 22 September, multiple X monitors (Clash, Faytuks citing three sources / Reuters, Osint613, WarMonitor3, IranObserver0) reported trade sources telling Reuters that Saudi Arabia has restarted East-West pipeline operations and is preparing to resume crude exports/loadings from Yanbu later Tuesday. Keep prior MFA shut / Wright / EU cancel context; still commercial-status upgrade — not a new Yanbu kinetic.

Why it matters

Material commercial-status upgrade: Reuters trade sources say the East-West line has restarted and Yanbu loadings are preparing later Tuesday — still not a new kinetic.

PROBABLE on original Saudi MFA pipeline shut. 15 Sep Yanbu loadings suspension / EU cancellations / Wright 'days' remain Reuters/AA-attributed commercial consequences. 22 Sep restart + Yanbu later-Tuesday exports are Reuters trade-source attributions via Clash/Faytuks/Osint613/WarMonitor3/IranObserver0 (no official Aramco MFA bulletin yet) — keep probable. Not a new Yanbu kinetic; distinct from unverified YASREF.
