President Trump said the US Navy had removed or detonated all mines from the international waters of the Strait of Hormuz and warned that any vessel laying new ones would be destroyed. The Joint Maritime Information Center kept its mine threat at SEVERE the same day, citing drifting and uncharted mines in and near the traffic separation scheme.

Trump wrote that he had "just been informed by the United States Navy that all mines have been removed and/or detonated from within the International Waters of the Strait of Hormuz", adding that a zero-tolerance policy on mine placement was in force. Reporting described underwater drones locating more than 100 suspected mines in the traffic separation scheme over recent months, with private contractors removing or detonating them. JMIC’s advisory of the same date did not follow: it kept mine danger areas active and clearance operations under way, so the package records the two assessments side by side rather than adopting either as the fact of the day.

Trump’s clearance claim and the JMIC advisory of the same day disagree on the residual mine risk; both are recorded as separate claims and neither is treated as confirmed.
