Importance
Notable

On the morning of 4 October 2026 a Russian drone struck a warehouse storing medical supplies in Sumy. The Kyiv Independent, citing local authorities, said a 52-year-old employee was killed and three other people were injured. President Zelenskyy wrote the same morning that drones had hit an ordinary pharmaceutical warehouse in Sumy and that one person was killed. Indian outlets later named the site as a Kusum plant; no official has confirmed that identification, and this record does not adopt it. The death is not the guided-bomb strike on the Zarichnyi district the same morning, which wounded 13 people including a child.

Why it matters

Sumy took two different Russian attacks the same morning: glide bombs on a residential district, and a drone on a medical warehouse. Folding the warehouse death into the bomb toll hides which strike killed the employee.

  • Fatalities: Best 1 people · Confidence: Probable · Evidence: Russian attacks kill at least 5, injure 30 across Ukraine, Indian-run pharma plant in Ukraine hit by Russian drones, 1 killed · One employee, aged 52, in the local-authority account.
  • Injuries: Best 3 people · Confidence: Probable · Evidence: Russian attacks kill at least 5, injure 30 across Ukraine, Indian-run pharma plant in Ukraine hit by Russian drones, 1 killed · Three others injured, in the same local-authority account. Zelenskyy did not give this count.

Verification: Probable

Evidence: Russian attacks kill at least 5, injure 30 across Ukraine, Indian-run pharma plant in Ukraine hit by Russian drones, 1 killed

The death and the three injured are the local-authority account carried by The Kyiv Independent. Zelenskyy confirmed one death at a pharmaceutical warehouse and did not give the injured count. Do not treat Indian reports that the plant belongs to Kusum as confirmed.
